The strategy has helped in establishing a coordination mechanism for financial inclusion which consists of NFIS Council, NFIS Steering Committee, Technical Committees and NFIS Secretariat which is housed in SBP.
- NFIS Council, chaired by the Federal Finance Minister, is the primary platform for achieving Pakistan’s financial inclusion objectives and vision.
- NFIS Steering Committee, chaired by SBP Governor, has the overall responsibility of implementing the Strategy.
- Technical Committees (TCs) in seven focus areas with more than 160 members from the private sector, Ministries, Government Departments, Regulators, Associations & networks have been formed to identify plans, address technical issues and propose solutions to Steering Committee to achieve the NFIS targets:
1) Digital Financial Services & Payment Systems
2) Microfinance, Agricultural finance, & Housing finance
3) SME finance
4) Islamic finance
5) Financial Literacy and Consumer Protection
6) Insurance
7) Pensions
These Technical Committees have further been positioned into 18 working groups for focused and concrete deliberations to firm up action plans.
