Ans. |
To
enhance the quality of the banknotes
in circulation, due care and attention
should be paid in order not to mutilate
banknotes, cut banknotes may not
be taped. The habit of wallet usage
may be exercised. And soiled and
mutilated banknotes may be exchanged
at the Field Offices of SBP BSC,
NBP Chest/Sub-Chest or Commercial
Banks nominated branches. |

Where and how are soiled and mutilated banknotes
exchanged? |
|
Ans. |
Whole
banknotes whose values can be identified
but are soiled, washed, painted,
burnt, torn or mutilated for other
reasons and banknotes whose surface
deficiencies are more than 50 %
are not exchanged.
Soiled,
mutilated banknotes or banknotes
incurring partial physical loss
can be exchanged directly at the
Field Offices of SBP BSC, NBP Chest/Sub-Chest
or Commercial Banks nominated branches. |

is captured? |

Ans. |
Police
Forces should be informed providing
them with the information regarding
from whom and where the counterfeit
banknote has been acquired. |

hazardous to health? |
|
Ans. |
The
soiled and mutilated banknotes are
infections for skin irritations,
abscess in skin and gastroenteritis.
As a protective health measures
soiled and mutilated banknotes may
be exchanged with new ones and to
use new and clean banknotes to the
extent possible. |

Ans. |
Whenever
the notes are exchanged one should
check the same. If the single feature
of a banknote is doubtful then compare
it with the genuine banknote features.

What should one do if a counterfeit note
is found? |

Ans. |
The
counterfeiting of note may be taken
into the notice of Police as soon
as possible. This is against the
law to posses or passes on a note
for which one know to be a counterfeit.

What are the legal provisions relating to
printing and circulation of forged notes? |
|
Ans. |
Printing
and circulation of forged notes
are offences under Sections 489A
to 489E of the Pakistan Penal Code
and are punishable in the courts
of law by fine or imprisonment or
both, depending on the offence.
