Introduction

State Bank of Pakistan Research Bulletin aims to publish high-quality research in the area of macroeconomics with special emphasis on monetary and exchange rate economics and policy issues, including those related to banking and finance. SBP Research Bulletin is a double-blind, peer-reviewed (by at least one international reviewer) economics research journal. The Research Bulletin also publishes special comments, by invitation only, in its 'opinion' section and has a section on 'book reviews' as well. It is indexed and abstracted internationally. The Research Bulletin is indexed in EconLit, which is the American Economic Association's comprehensive resource to the world's economic literature. SBP also indexes the Research Bulletin into global database of research papers in economics (RePEc). The Research Bulletin is advised by a Board consisting of eminent economists and scholars of international repute. The Editorial Board is responsible for overall management of the Bulletin and consists of economists from State Bank of Pakistan.

Scope & Mission

The Research Bulletin aspires to disseminate research in the area of macroeconomics on prevailing topics under debate in scholarly discussions in academic and policy circles at domestic and international levels.

Instructions/Guidelines for the Authors

Instructions to Authors for Submission in the SBP-Research Bulletin

  • Name of the author(s) must not be mentioned on the manuscript.
  • Attach a covering letter indicating title of the article, name(s) email of the author(s) along with institutional affiliation.
  • Abstract of about 100 words with JEL Classification and Keywords must be included.

  • Text should be double-spaced, one-inch margin on all sides (A4 paper size).
  • Times New Roman font style with font size of 11 should be used.
  • List of references to appear at the end of the text in alphabetical order. Some Examples:

  • When more than two authors to quote, use "et al."
  • Equations or Formulas must be numbered on the extreme right as (1), (2), (3), ... consecutively. Variables/Characters used in them must be defined clearly. When referring to the Equations or Formulas, always quote as "Equation (1)", etc.
  • Produce Tables and Figures at the end of the manuscript (after the References). Indicate in the main text where to insert the Tables and Figures.
  • Construct the Tables of size 3". Do not over-decorate. Do not leave any column or row blank. No
    colors. Give title, for example:

    Table 1. Real GDP of Pakistan, 1960-2004 (millions of Rs)
  • Do not overload Figures (of size 3") with information and avoid over-decoration, label appropriately. No colors. Do not use italics. Give title, for example:
    Figure 1. Pakistan's Real GDP Growth, 1960-2004 (% annual)
  • In case of regression analysis, make sure that the data as well as detail of any specialized software used is readily available upon requirement.
  • Data used in Graphs/figures should be sent in Excel format separately.
  • Paper should not exceed 25 pages, excluding References and Appendices.

 STATE BANK OF PAKISTAN RESEARCH BULLETIN

State Bank of Pakistan has been publishing the Research Bulletin regularly since 2005. Its objective is to publish latest research in various fields of macroeconomics with focus on monetary and exchange rate economics and policies, including those related to banking and finance. It also disseminates research on prevailing topics under debate in scholarly discussions in academic and policy circles at domestic and international levels.

State Bank of Pakistan Research Bulletin is a double-blind, peer reviewed (by at least one international reviewer) economics research journal. It is indexed abstracted internationally. The Research Bulletin is indexed in EconLit, which is the American Economic Association's comprehensive resource to the world's economic literature. SBP also indexes the Research Bulletin into global database of research papers in economics (RePEc). Its hard copies are distributed to national/international academic institutions, central banks, and main libraries. Currently, SBP Research Bulletin is under consideration by Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan, for recognition.

You are invited to submit your academic research paper. A short note or a book review may also be submitted. The research work submitted to the Research Bulletin shall not be submitted elsewhere.

A complimentary copy of the printed version of the Bulletin is also sent to each contributory author.

Last date for submission of research work for SBP Research Bulletin
for current year issue is August 31.

Any paper submitted after this date will be considered for the next year issue.

Review & Publication Policy

  1. SBP Research Bulletin is  published once every year. However, depending upon requirements and decisions of the Advisory/Editorial Board, special/conference issue(s) can be published.
  2. The deadline for submission is announced through a notice on the SBP Research Bulletin website.
  3. Papers submitted within due date are screened in an editorial board meeting for external blind review. Authors of the manuscripts declined at this stage are informed accordingly.
  4. Selected manuscripts are sent for blind review by two reviewers having doctoral degrees; including one international reviewer preferably from an industrially/academically advanced country.
  5. Authors are provided reasonable time to complete revision following blind review process.
  6. The manuscript is accepted for publication after revision in line with the comments/suggestions of reviewers.
  7. It is essential for the paper to earn recommendation of the reviewers for publication in the SBP Research Bulletin.
