Mr. Mahbubur Raschid, the Fourth Governor of SBP, was also the
first career banker to hold the responsible office of the Governor,
spending most of his career being associated with the banking sector
since 1939, holding responsible executive positions, which include
Deputy Managing Director, National Bank of Pakistan in East Pakistan
and founding Managing Director of the Industrial Development Bank
of Pakistan.
He was also awarded Tamgha-e-Pakistan in 1959 & Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam
in 1964. A Graduate in Commerce & Arts from U.K. Mr. Raschid made
studies in banking system & financial institutions to Japan, Britain,
Germany & Italy between 1961 to 1967.
After resigning as SBP Governor, he joined The Planning Commission,
as Deputy Chairman on July 1, 1971. |
