The Shariah Advisory Committee (SAC) of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is an apex body which provides Shariah opinion and advice on Shariah related matters. The Shariah Advisory Committee consists of Shariah scholar members drawn from among Islamic scholars and Technical members including accountant, lawyer, senior official from SBP, and a specialist from other fields i.e. Economics or Banking & Finance with good knowledge of Islamic finance and practices.

Members of the Shariah Advisory Committee are:

i. Mufti Irshad Ahmad Aijaz as Shariah scholar member and Chairman,

ii. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shahtaz as Shariah scholar member,

iii. Ayatullah Shabbir Hasan Lakhani (Maisami) as Shariah scholar member,

iv. Syed Najmul Hussain as Accountant member,

v. Justice (R) Syed Jamshed Ali as Lawyer member,

vi. Mr. Mansur-Ur-Rehman Khan as member from other field i.e. Economics or Banking & Finance,

vii. Syed Samar Hasnain, Executive Director (Development Finance Group) as ex-officio member,

whereas, Mr. Ghulam Muhammad, Director Islamic Banking Department, SBP to act as ex-officio Secretary (non-member) to the Committee.
