Please refer to PSD Circular Letter No. 6/2011 dated October 14, 2011 regarding the “Management of ATMs on Weekends”. It has been noticed that despite the given directives during the recent long weekend due to Ashura Holidays (November 1-4, 2014), ATMs in different parts of the country remained unavailable for consumers because of various reasons. This resulted in substantial inconvenience to the general public who remained deprived of cash.
2. It is once again emphasized that Banks should take all necessary steps including, but not limited to, reviewing their internal processes, backend service contracts and logistic arrangements to enhance uninterrupted e-banking services which include ATMs, POS machines and Internet and Mobile banking during weekends and long holidays.
3. Non-Compliance of the above instructions and complaints of unavailability of ATM services from general public will attract penal actions under relevant provisions of the law.
