In order to ensure uninterrupted and efficient services to bank customers, SBP had issued guidelines and instructions regarding management of ATM operations in general and monitoring of ATM cash/downtime during Ramazan/Eid holidays in particular vide following Circulars/Circular letters;

- PSD Circular No. 02/2007
- PSD Circular No.3/2010
However, it has been observed from the customer complaints received by SBP and the reports appearing in the press that banks are not complying with the above SBP instructions resulting in inconvenience to the general public/customers. This non-compliance has been viewed seriously. SBP has, therefore, decided to depute special inspection teams to carry out surprise inspections of the ATMs installed at various cities/towns throughout the country to ascertain the compliance level by banks. The banks are, therefore, advised to meticulously comply with the instructions issued vide above referred circulars failing which heavy penalties under the relevant laws would be imposed on defaulting banks.
