Sirs/Madam,
ESTABLISHMENT
OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEPARTMENT (SMED)
For
the promotion of development finance, SBP has established
Small and Medium Enterprises Department (SMED) at 7th
Floor, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Main Building, I.I.
Chundrigar Road, Karachi. The department will be
responsible for regulatory and supervisory matters relating
to SMEs, Micro Finance, Export Refinance, Housing Finance
and Infrastructure Project Financing (IPF). SMED is comprised
of the following Divisions:
i.
SME Division
ii. Refinance Division
iii. Micro Finance Division
iv. Housing Finance and Infrastructure Development Division
2.
Banks/DFIs/MFBs/HBFC
are presently furnishing to BPD & BSD a number of returns-
the details of which is given in Annex A- relating to development
finance. With immediate effect, Banks/DFIs/MFBs/HBFC are
advised that, in future, all such returns shall be submitted
on a regular basis to SMED, instead of BPD and BSD.

All Banks/DFIs/MFBs/HBFC are further advised that references,
correspondence and returns relating to SMED be submitted
at the following address:
