State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, is looking for talented and energetic candidates for the following OG-3 position in External Communications Department (ECD), based in Karachi.

Media Relations Officer (OG-3)

 Key Responsibilities:


Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Act as a primary point of contact between the central bank and national, regional, and international media organizations.
  • Proactively identify media opportunities, pitch stories, and facilitate interviews, briefings, and press conferences for senior officials.
  • Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive database of journalists, editors, and media stakeholders.
  • Translate complex economic, financial, and policy documents into clear, accurate Urdu language suitable for media and public dissemination.
  • Prepare background notes, fact sheets, and explanatory materials to support public understanding of the bank’s policies and mandate.
  • Have excellent command on tickers’ extraction, editing press releases/ media briefs and other SBP content.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with editors, reporters, producers, and key opinion makers across print, electronic, and digital media.
  • Proactively pitch SBP’s initiatives, policy measures, and institutional achievements to media outlets with a view to enhancing positive visibility and balanced coverage.
  • Monitor daily media coverage across print, broadcast, and digital platforms, and produce analytical reports for senior management.
  • Plan and manage press conferences, media briefings, and communications following Monetary Policy Committee announcements.
  • Coordinate media arrangements for speeches, major announcements, and high-profile institutional events.
  • Respond to media enquiries in a timely and accurate manner by coordinating internally across SBP departments and subsidiaries to ensure consistency and reliability of information.
  • Arrange capacity building workshops for journalists in major cities of the country, especially where SBPBSC field offices are located by coordinating with business departments, media houses/press clubs and NIBAF to ensure most relevant topics have been chosen.
  • Should have proficiency in content management workflows and editorial planning.
  • Strong experience in digital news platforms including content strategy, content creation and posting.
  • Keep close coordination with PID for successful completion of senior government functionaries’ visits; share content with PID, as and when required.
  • Play key role in crisis communications by reaching out to relevant persons/organizations across print, digital and electronic media in a timely manner and effectively convey SBP's version across various media strands; ensure 24/7 tracking of media in a crisis scenario.
  • Deliver any other tasks as asked by the senior management from time to time.

Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree (with a minimum of 16 years of education) in Mass Communications, Media Sciences, Journalism, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics or Business Administration from reputable HEC recognized university.
Age
  • Maximum 40 years, as on the date of advertisement.
Experience
  • 10 years of work experience. Relevant experience in covering the banking sector, financial markets and regulatory authorities will be preferred.
