State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, is looking for skilled and enthusiastic professional for following contractual positions in Museum, Art Gallery & Archives Department (MAG&AD). The positions are based in Karachi.
|
|
Assistant Curator - Arts |
Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Supervise the care, maintenance, and display of the art collection and ongoing exhibitions, ensuring proper handling, movement, and upkeep of objects.
- Manage the cataloging of artworks, including documenting provenance, condition reports, and updating collection records.
- Supervise the examination, repair, and conservation of art objects.
- Assist in the acquisition, storage, and long-term preservation of artworks and collections.
- Research, plan, and develop art exhibitions in coordination with the Curator/Director, incorporating museum collections where possible.
- Coordinate the loaning and borrowing of artwork for exhibitions and ensure proper handling of artworks.
- Oversee the unpacking, installation, de-installation, and packing of art objects for exhibitions.
- Research and prepare interpretive materials for exhibits, including descriptions, labels, and graphics.
- Assist in the production of exhibition graphics, and create scale models and working drawings for installations as needed.
- Determine appropriate fabrication materials, mounts, lighting levels, security measures, and climate conditions for each exhibition.
- Fabricate object mounts, furniture, and pedestals as necessary for exhibition displays.
- Assist in upgrading gallery displays, interiors, and equipment, ensuring the spaces are visually engaging and properly maintained.
- Conduct research on artists, artworks, and potential acquisitions, contributing to the development of the gallery’s collection.
- Communicate with artists, galleries, and other art institutions regarding potential acquisitions, exhibitions, and partnerships.
- Coordinate and support the development and execution of educational programs, tours, and public events related to the museum's collections and exhibitions.
- Assist in administering contracts, schedules, and budgets, ensuring smooth and timely execution of exhibition plans and projects.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree (16 years of education), in relevant fields of Arts & Humanities from HEC recognized institutions or from a reputable foreign University |
Age: |
Maximum 30 years as on the date of advertisement. |
Experience: |
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience |

Education Officer |
Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Plan, manage and deliver a variety of educational programs in the museum
- Create and set standards for all museum-related educational programming to ensure quality and alignment with educational goals.
- Develop and implement curriculum-based programs in collaboration with educational institutions and collect feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, making improvements as necessary.
- Design and publishing of informative booklets, guides and information packs for academia and general visitors of the Museum.
- Contribute to the design and development of exhibitions and other public programming, ensuring they are educationally enriching and accessible to diverse audiences.
- Organize recreational activities, events and workshops on designated days/special occasions for children and families
- Develop and implement outreach programmes aimed at bringing underrepresented groups into the museum as visitors, and/or at extending museum services into the community
- Work with other museum staff to promote and market the museum and events to diverse audience
- Identify creative ways to align museum objectives with visitor needs across a range of subject areas
