State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, is looking for talented and energetic candidates for the following positions in the Legal Services Department, based at Karachi.

 

Deputy Legal Advisor - Corporate Service (OG-5)


Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate with different departments of the Bank and its subsidiaries to provide legal advice / opinion on the corporate cluster, administrative and human resource of the subsidiaries including union and CBA issues.
  • Examine and vet legal documents and assist in documentation of contracts and agreements.
  • Assist in and vet investigation and disciplinary matters and inquiries including show cause notices.
  • Attend meetings / seminars / hold discussions on behalf of the Bank with the permission of Director Legal with the higher management of the Bank or Government Authorities, foreign agencies / delegates pertaining to the legal issues/contracts and policies of the Central Bank.
  • Assist higher authorities of the Bank in interpretation of various statutes / laws to help them in framing policies for the Bank as and when required.
  • Advise on drafting of circulars, directives and documents to be issued by the Human resources department and other client departments in the corporate cluster and subsidiaries. Draft and advise on legal implications of orders and directives to be issued.
  • Provide assistance in arranging engagement of advocates carefully based on their expertise and negotiate their professional fees according to the relevance and importance of the case. Vet documents, pleadings, petitions prepared by outside Counsel and liaise with them closely during litigation / other Court proceeding.
  • Deal with legal issues in a professional manner such that dependence on outside counsel is minimized.

 

 Eligibility Criteria:


Education:

Masters in Law from HEC recognized domestic or reputable foreign university.

Age:

Maximum 45 years, as on the last date to submit application. Relaxation maybe allowed in case of additional relevant experience.

Experience:

Minimum 12 years of relevant experience with at least 04 years in a middle management position. Incumbent must be fully conversant with drawing up and reviewing contracts, negotiations and notifications relating to autonomous bodies like SBP and analyzing, interpreting and formulating opinion on points on law.

Other Attributes:
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Sound knowledge of relevant national / international laws relating to international treaties
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information

Deputy Legal Advisor - Litigation (OG-5)


Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Provide legal services in all litigation related matters pertaining to SBP, SBP BSC and NIBAF offices
  • Draft / vet plaints / written statements and notices etc in co-ordination with the client department and advocates.
  • Assist Director Legal and Legal Advisor (OG-6) in selection and arranging engagement of advocates carefully based on their expertise and negotiate their professional fees according to the relevance and importance of the case. Vet documents, pleadings, petitions prepared by outside Counsel and liaise with them closely during litigation / other Court proceeding.
  • Advise on banking policy matters vet and advise on legal implications of orders and directives to be issued by the Bank.
  • Attend meetings / seminars / hold discussions on behalf of the Bank with the permission of Director Legal with the higher management of the Bank and/ or Advocates in litigation matters pertaining to the Central Bank.
  • Liaise with Advocates and Court offices as well as different departments of SBP, SBP BSC and NIBAF on litigation related matters.
  • Assist in the prosecution / investigation before the adjudication department of the Bank.
  • Deal with legal issues in a professional manner such that dependence on outside counsel is minimized.

 Eligibility Criteria:

Incumbent must be fully conversant with drawing up and reviewing contracts, drafting legislation and rules, negotiations and notifications relating to autonomous body like SBP and analyzing, interpreting and formulating opinion on points on law.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
