State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, is looking for talented and energetic candidates for the following position of Additional Director (OG-6), based in Karachi.

 

Additional Director - Museum, Art Gallery and Archives Department


Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. To look after the overall administration and management of the Museum.

  2. To provide an opportunity to general public and students to learn about history of SBP and Pakistan by arranging exhibitions, temporary as well as permanent.

  3. To acquire and develop new coins, currency notes and stamp collections for the museum by conducting meetings with private collectors who approach the museum to sell their collection, studying and verifying their collections, getting necessary approvals from the advisory committee and then the acquisition committee.

  4. To frame the guidelines and policies for the proper management of the Museum and its collections in the Museum.

  5. To ensure proper maintenance and required repairs of the heritage museum building in accordance with the Venice Charter.

  6. To supervise the archives & record management of the SBP and SBP BSC, ensure the preservation and digitization of the existing records and their online availability.

  7. To prepare proposals for the development of the museum, which includes developing and acquiring new collections, adding new sections to the museum.

  8. To train the staff that is hired to work in the SBP Museum building, using personal expertise and experience to teach them the methods and ways of preserving the collections, providing information and history about the artifacts, manage and maintain the collections and artworks in the museum.

  9. To conduct extensive research on coins, currency, paintings collections, conservation & maintenance of collections.

  10. To prepare the publications that are published annually by the museum department.

  11. To supervise the cataloging and digitalizing of the collection.

  12. To acquire material related to the history of the country and SBP and display it effectively to the visitors.

  13. To envisage different training programs, proposals related to management of the Museum and the cultural heritage.

  14. To supervise and direct different educational programs and exhibitions for public and schools etc.

  15. To envisage and prepare the annual expenditure plan for the effective running of the Museum.

 Eligibility Criteria:


Education:

Master's or PhD in General History (Numismatics as major), Anthropology/Archaeology, Museology from HEC recognized institutions or from a reputable foreign university.

Age:

Maximum 50 years as on the last date to submit application.

Experience:

Minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 10 years in related field of which at least 5 years in a middle management position. At least one catalogue on coins of IndoPak subcontinent and at least two research articles in a renowned research journal. Knowledge of Archives & paper conservation will be an added advantage.
