Because of the pivotal place a central bank occupies in the financial setup of a country, Mr. Zahid Hussain the First Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan had requested the Father of Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to perform its inauguration ceremony. The Quaid-i-Azam interrupted his stay in Zirarat and flew to Karachi against medical advise. Incidentally, this ceremony was also the last public function attended by the Quaid.
