State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is looking for an astute legal professional having extensive experience and deep insights of corporate and banking laws to head its Legal Services Department as Director. This is a senior management position based in Karachi.

Director (OG-7) - Legal Services Department

The position will be reporting to the Chief Legal Advisor and will be responsible to:

Participate as an active member of the Bank’s strategic team to articulate policies in order to safeguard the bank against legal risks/potential litigations/ claims. Monitor and advise on compliance with laws, regulations and industry standards as applicable to the Bank. Given the continuing development of the legal framework governing the financial sector, provide necessary advice and guidance to the legal team and senior management to set overall organizational priorities. Engage and collaborate closely with other departments of the Bank and its subsidiaries to address legal issues related to business operations, contracts and regulatory compliance in order to protect organization’s interests. Based on knowledge of legal issues related to organizational/departmental objectives, examine and vet legal documents to be presented to competent authority or be made available at different fora, while ensuring that the organization’s view and stance is properly presented as per prevailing laws and regulations. Provide assistance to the senior management as and when required in preparation of MOUs, contracts and agreements to be entered with different counter parties in connection with business and operations of the bank. Attend courts/tribunals and any other related forum on behalf of bank and its subsidiaries to safeguard its interests while undertaking proper risk mitigation and ensuring that proper support in terms of legal services is available to the departments as and when required. Provide guidance to reporting staff in drafting legislation, ordinances, contracts, agreements, etc. as the case may be and to guide them with regard to court appearances, litigation and various compliance issues. Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at national and international levels. Undertake any other task assigned by the senior management.

 Eligibility Criteria:

Education:	Master's or Bachelor's degree (with a minimum of 16 years of education) in Law with strong academic credentials from an HEC recognized domestic or foreign university. The candidates having advanced qualification from reputed foreign institutes will have an added advantage.
Age:	Maximum 50 years, as on the date of advertisement. Age relaxation may be allowed in case of outstanding experience and achievements at national and international level.
Experience:	At least 20 years of experience including at least 5 years in senior management position in Legal function. Experience of independently handling court cases at various Legal Forums including, but not limited to, High Courts, Labor Courts and Regulatory authorities would be preferred.
