State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, regulates the monetary and credit system of country and fosters its growth in the best national interest with a view to securing monetary stability and optimum utilization of the country’s productive resources. SBP is looking for high caliber and dynamic professionals for the CONTRACTUAL position in Economic Policy Review Department, based at Karachi.

Senior/Lead Economist

Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:
	Contribution to SBP Annual and Quarterly Reports on the State of Pakistan Economy.
	Act as Publication Manager for the SBP Annual and Quarterly Reports on the State of Pakistan Economy.
	Conduct research on topical issues relating to Pakistan’s economy and produce notes/papers in a timely manner on the basis of this research.
	Participate in discussions and engage in evidenced-based debates on outlook of the domestic and global economies.
	Write research papers using strong writing skills to contribute to publications in SBP Research Bulletin, SBP working paper Series and SBP Staff Notes.
	Provide intellectual and analytical support to the management in policy formulation.
	Manage and develop young analysts.
	Deal with references and queries raised by internal and external stakeholders.

 Eligibility Criteria:

Education	Must have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with 16 years of education in Economics or Finance from HEC recognized university or from a reputable foreign university. Candidates with PhD or MPhil and international exposure will be preferred.
Age:	Maximum 45 years, as of the date of submission of application (as per CNIC). Relaxation maybe allowed in case of additional relevant experience.
Experience:	Minimum 8 years post qualification relevant experience for 16 years education. Minimum 6 years post qualification relevant experience for M.Phil. Minimum 4 years post qualification relevant experience for Ph.D.
Competencies:	Sound knowledge of macroeconomic theory. Strong analytical skills and command of English language. Knowledge of Pakistan’s economy particularly monetary, financial, and external sectors. Familiarity with statistical datasets in Pakistan. Sound knowledge of statistical and econometric techniques and proficiency in the use of econometrics software packages. Adaptability to fast-paced, dynamic, and competitive environment. Integrity, excellence, and teamwork. Exhibit leadership, team management, communication and interpersonal skills.
