State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, regulates the monetary and credit system of the country and fosters its growth in the best national interest with a view to secure monetary stability and optimum utilization of the country's productive resources. In order to further strengthen the institutional capacity in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), applications are invited from high calibre and dynamic professionals for the following position, based in SBP Karachi.


Director (OG-7) -Risk Management Department


The position is responsible for development & implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework and overall supervision & monitoring of risks associated with foreign exchange reserve management activities of the Bank. Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:

Develop and implement all aspects of ERM framework for SBP business activities and ensure its alignment with changing market dynamics and international best practices.
Establish and implement enterprise wide risk management standards, propose risk tolerance structure and put in place an effective oversight and reporting mechanism.
Lead the risk identificaiton, assessments, monitoring and mitigation activities and aligining ERM operations to SBP' s overall strategic and business objectives.
Monitoring the macroeconomic events and policies that can potentially affect financial markets and instruments; assess their impact on SBP reserve management activities and produce reports for higher management.
Manage and analyze investment portfolio and their underlying securities to assess potential credit risk, perform credit stress test and monitor credit quality of portfolio holding.
Manage and arrange risk reviews to highlight critical risks to the senior management/ERM Committee.
Ensure compliance of various risk limits, risk tolerance levels & other operational guidelines on a regular basis.
Supervise coordination with International Bodies i.e. World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), International Operational Risk Working Group (IORWG) etc. for risk management activities.
Promote a corporate culture of risk awareness and prudent risk management through trainings, communication strategy and other awareness initiatives to develop a team of risk professionals.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification: Masters or Bachelors Degree (16 years) in Finance, Risk Management, Economics or equivalent from HEC recognized local or
                       foreign university.

Experience:    Minimum 12 years relevant (post qualification) experience with exposure in international financial institutions.

Proven record of achievements in risk governance areas.
Understanding of international financial markets instruments, investment management and risk management systems, processes and techniques.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to lead and develop teams.
Excellent presentation, communication, conflict management and problem solving skills.
Strategic thinker and ability to influence at highest levels of the organization.
Effective leadership, team management and motivational skills.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic and competitive environment.

Compensation Package

Competitive compensation package in salary scale of Director (OG-7) including car, loan facility, medical, contributory provident fund, gratuity with other perks and benefits as per Bank's rules.
