Dear Sir/Madam,

Relief Measures for Agricultural and Microfinance Borrowers of Flood Affected Areas

To provide relief to the borrowers of flood affected areas as reported by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Banks/DFIs/MFBs are encouraged to reschedule/restructure agricultural and micro loans/advances of such borrowers, as per existing Prudential (PRs) of Agriculture and Microfinance, where the possibility of recovery exists.

2. For all such rescheduled/restructured loans and advances, Banks/DFIs/MFBs may defer loan provisioning up to September 30, 2015. However, classification of such loans shall be done as per criteria laid down in the relevant PRs. This relaxation is available for loans and advances which have become non-performing since September 1, 2014 in the affected areas as reported by NDMA. Loans/advances before this date shall not qualify for this relaxation.
3. Any misuse of above relaxations would attract penal action under the prevailing rules and regulations.
