Dear Sirs / Madam,

Awareness Among the Farming Community

In order to increase outreach of agriculture financing, banks need to create awareness among the farming community about their designated branches involved in agriculture financing and agri. loan products being offered by them. In this regard, banks are advised to take the following steps:

1. Display outside the premises of their branches engaged in agri. finance that “Agri. Loans Are Available Here” in Urdu and/or regional languages.
2. Make arrangements for availability of information in Urdu and/or regional languages in the form of brochures inside their agri. financing branches about their agri. loan products, eligibility criteria, collateral requirements, terms and conditions, etc. and the same may also be displayed on the notice board of the branches.
3. List of all designated agri. credit branches along with names, contact details, and salient features of schemes/products being offered by banks for agricultural financing shall be placed on bank’s website.

Banks are advised to comply with the above instructions by 5th May, 2008, failing which penal action will be taken under Banking Companies Ordinance, 1962.
