Withdrawal of Instructions for Reporting of
Classified Advances and Written Off Loans

Please refer to BID Circular No.3 dated 20th February 1989, BID Circular No.1 dated 6th April 1991 and BID Circular Letter No.BID(W.O)/3869/702-18-90 dated 17th October 1990 on the captioned subject.

In terms of said circulars, the banks are submitting borrower wise statements of classified advances annually and borrower wise details of written off loans quarterly as well as annually to this department. The matter has been reviewed in view of enhanced regulatory disclosure requirements, modifications in prudential regulations and e-CIB reporting requirements and it has been decided to withdraw the above circulars. Accordingly, all the statements and returns required to be submitted in compliance of the said circulars have also been discontinued with immediate effect.

However, the banks/DFIs will make sure that current instructions regarding classification, provisioning and written off loan cases are complied with.
