The forth workshop on 'Covering Financial Inclusion' held on October 16,
2018
The forth workshop in the
series of six training workshops for economic
journalists was arranged by the State Bank
of Pakistan and at Aman Tower, IBA City Campus,
Karachi, on October 16. The topic was ‘Covering Financial Inclusion’ and the purpose
of the workshop was to make economic journalists
familiar with the external account as it relates
to Pakistan and how to cover issues relating
to it.
The training was divided
into three sessions. In the first part, an
SBP expert gave a detailed presentation about
Pakistan's external account. The expert explained
both the concepts and the data besides elaborating
on recent trends. In the second session, the
media trainer presented on why the balance
of payments needs to be covered, how to look
for stories on it and how to gather reporting.
In the last session, workshop participants
were divided into groups and asked to develop
a story idea on balance of payments and make
a presentation. Through the group critique
carried out after the final assignment session,
it was determined how much participants had
learned about balance of payments and its
subsequent reporting.
