Abdul
Qadir was the second Governor of State Bank of Pakistan. Before
partition, Mr. Qadir held several Administrative & Advisory
positions in the Government of India. He joined the Indian Audit
& Accounts Services, spent about six years in the Accounts Office
at New Delhi, Nagpur & Calcutta, was transferred to the Finance
Ministry, Government of India in 1936 & was selected for the
Finance & Commerce Cadre.
He served as Income-Tax Commissioner for the Punjab, Delhi & NWFP,
after partition, he was appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry
of Finance & later Chairman of Central Board of Revenue.
Born in 1903 at Jallender, Mr. qadir was educated at Foreman Christian
College, Lahore. In 1950, he became the first Pakistani to be appointed
Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, when he succeded his Victor
Turner. |
