State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the central bank of the country, taking cognizance of the developments taking place across Pakistan’s financial markets has undertaken various in-house organizational development initiatives to restructure and modernize this premier institution. As part of this strategy to broaden strengthen its HR base and to ensure continuity of the restructuring process, the Bank is looking for senior professionals to work in its Research/Economic Analysis/Monetary Policy Departments as:

1. Senior Economist (OG-6) 2. Economist (OG-5) and  3. Economist (OG-4)

Positions’ Profile
These are permanent positions offering a unique opportunity to analyze macro financial data and interact with national and international financial institutions. Major job responsibilities include suggesting various interventions in money and foreign exchange markets, measures for the management of the banking system and interaction with national and international financial institutions. Further the incumbents will also be required to contribute to SBP’s main publications and preparing analytical studies and briefs on current macroeconomic trends, issues and concerns.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Senior Economist (OG-6): Ph.D in Economics with 8 years OR Master degree in Economics from a reputed university with minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with an established research/academic / financial organization in Pakistan or abroad.

Age: Age should not exceed 48 years as on last date of application.

2. Economist (OG-4 & 5): Ph.D in Economics with 1 – 4 years OR Master degree in Economics from a reputed university with minimum of 6 – 8 years of relevant experience with an established research/academic / financial organization in Pakistan.

Age: Age should not exceed 45 years as on last date of application.

Others Skills/Competencies: Good command of English with proven writing abilities. Preference will be given to candidates with publications in reputed international journals.

ii Fully conversant with use of MS Office packages, particularly Excel and Word. Knowledge of other Statistical and Economic software tools such as E-Views will be a plus. Well versed with International / Local economic situations, trends and issues.

Compensation Package

 i Salary in the salary scales of: OG-6 (Rs.45,600—Rs. 114,750); OG-5 (Rs. 42,200—Rs. 108,150) and OG-4 (Rs.38,350—Rs. 99,750)
 ii Free medical facility for self and family, loans, allowances and other benefits as per Bank’s rules.
 iii Car (for OG-6 & 5 only), Residential telephone facility, allowance and other benefits as per Bank’s rules.
