SBP Memorial Chairs in Economics

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank of the country, regulates the monetary and credit system of Pakistan in the best national interest with a view to secure monetary stability and foster economic growth. SBP also promotes research activities and publishes various reports covering major macroeconomic sectors of the economy.

As a part of its endeavor to enhance the standard of teaching and research in economics, especially in the fields of monetary policy, exchange rate management, capital flows, financial sector stability, and economic growth, SBP has established Chairs at various public sector universities in the honor of its former Governors.

Now, SBP seeks applications from renowned economists/researchers to be recruited on SBP Memorial Chair established at following public sector university:

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification
PhD in Economics
Experience



Minimum eight (8) years of post-qualification teaching and/or research experience in the respective field of economics.


Publications
















Candidate should have a minimum aggregate score of 12 as per the following criterion:

Each paper published in X or Y category Pakistani journals according to Higher Education Commission classification will be assigned a score of 1. In case of publication in foreign journals, the scores will be assigned according to the journal ratings by Association of Business Schools (ABS), as given at the weblink: [https://charteredabs.org/academic-journal-guide-2015-view/]. The ABS classifies journals into four categories (1-4; 4 being the highest category). In this case the score will be same as that of category of the Journal (for example the paper published in category 1 will get a score of 1, and so on).

For example, if a candidate has 3 papers published in HEC recognized Pakistani journals (of X or Y category); 3 papers in international journals of category 2 as per ABS list; and 1 paper in an international journal of category 4 as per ABS list; then his/her aggregate score will be calculated as:

3x1 + 3x2 + 1x4= 13.

Compensation






1) Monthly remuneration of Rs. 550, 000/- (Five hundred and fifty thousand rupees only).

2) Economy-class round-trip airfare (from the nearest city with international airport to the city of Chair) to the appointee, spouse, and two children.

3) House/House allowance (to be provided by the relevant university), and other benefits.

Period of Contract




Initially the Chair shall be filled on contract basis for two years, which will be renewable subject to the total service not exceeding six years.

Candidates serving in government/semi-government/autonomous institutions will have to produce NOC from their respective employer at the time of interview.
