BSD-A Half Day Workshop on "Stress Testing"
As
a part of ongoing efforts to the capacity building of State
Bank of Pakistan’s employees of Banking Cluster, Banking
Surveillance Department organized a half-day workshop on “Stress
Testing” on Thursday, 23 November, 2006 at the SBP Learning
Resource Centre, Karachi.
The
purpose of the Workshop was to get officials in loop to familiarize
them with the Stress Testing, its Needs, Uses, Guidelines
issued by the SBP, Stress Testing by Financial Institutions
& their Understanding of the key issues; Reporting formats;
Future roadmap, and learning from the best international practices.
Total 40 officers from Banking Cluster including the Banking
Inspection (On-site) Department (BID), Off-site Supervision
& Enforcement Department (OSED), SME & Microfinance
Department (SME&MFD), Banking Policy & Regulation
Department and Banking Surveillance Department participated
in the said Workshop. List of the participants enclosed. (Attachment

Activity was also undertaken in the Workshop. The participants
were divided into Five groups of different departments and
assigned them with the tasks of:
1. Identifying the Risk Stress Scenarios for the banks operating
in Pakistan.
2. Proposed level of Stress applied to those Risk/Stress
Scenarios.
At
the end of the Workshop, participants shared their views on
the exercise submitted by each group and knowledge gained
during the session.
The Resource Persons for the workshop were Mr. Muhammad Akhtar
Javed, Joint Director and Ms. Rizwana Rifat, Assistant Director
