Dear Sirs,

SANCTIONS IMPOSED BY U. N. SECURITY COUNCIL
AGAINST TALIBA

 

The Security Council of the United Nations has imposed senators against the Taliban vide Resolution No. 1267 (1999). Relevant extracts from the resolution are reproduced below:-

"Freeze funds and other financial resources, including funds derived or generated from property owned or controlled directly or indirectly by the Taliban or by any undertaking owned or controlled by the Taliban as designated by the Committee established by paragraph 6 below and ensure that neither they nor any other funds of financial resources so designated are made available by their nationals or by any persons within their territory to or for the benefit of the Taliban or any undertaking owned or controlled, directly or indirectly by the Taliban except as may be authorized by the committee on a case-by-case basis on the grounds of humanitarian need;"

        Copies of the containing properties and establishments of the Taliban Government in Pakistan as also Resolution No. 1267 (1999) are enclosed. You are advised to take necessary action to freeze the funds of the nature mentioned in the resolution. You are also advised to furnish a statement of the frozen funds in the proforma given below, so as to reach us by 20th December 1999.
