Please refer to BP&RD Circular Letter No. 19 dated July 02, 2007 on the above subject.

2. Based on the representation received from the Banks, indicating difficulties in meeting the extended deadline of December 31, 2007 for complying with the instructions issued vide aforesaid circular letter by them, it has been decided to extend the date for meeting the subject requirement up to March 31, 2008.

3. Banks/DFIs are advised to carry on aggressive public campaign through print/ electronic media for creating public awareness on requirement of CNIC for banking purposes. Moreover, banks/DFIs are advised to contact the account holders individually who have not yet provided the attested copies of CNICs. They are also required to provide information on progress made on the subject on fortnightly basis, within seven days of the close of each fortnight, as per the following format.
