As
per Letter No.BPD/PU-35/602/2006-1917 dated 4th March,
2006, State Bank has advised National Bank, MCB Bank,
United Bank, Habib Bank, Allied Bank, Bank of Punjab,
Bank of Khyber and Zarai Taraqiati Bank that (i) there
will be no minimum balance requirement for opening and
operating of accounts opened for receiving compensation
by the earthquake affected peoples, (ii) no transaction
cost from above accounts will be charged, (iii) the bank
branches operating in the earthquake affected areas may
conduct mobile banking service on the locations to be
identified by earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation
authority subject to provision of necessary security arrangements
by the local authorities, (iv) mobile banking may be provided
at least once in a week for depositing cheques and for
withdrawal of a maximum amount of Rs.25,000 per account,
and (v) for the awareness of the affected people, the
banks may adequately disseminate the arrangements in the
affected areas.
