Agricultural
Credit Department established in 1953 under Section 8(3) of the SBP Act
and headed by a Director (Fax No. 921-7215) is working within the
overall charge of Economic Adviser (Fax No. 921-2555).
The Department is mainly responsible for credit needs of
Agriculture, who being the mainstay of Pakistan’s economy, generates
nearly one fourth of the total out put and 44% of total employment and
is the major source of foreign exchange earning.
The other functions of the Department are as under: -
(a)
To maintain an expert staff to study all questions of agricultural
credit and be available for consultation by the Federal Government,
Provincial Governments, Provincial Co-operative Banks and other banking
organisations.
(b) To co-ordinate the operations of
the Bank in connection with agricultural credit
and its
relations with the Provincial Co-operative Banks and any other
organisations
engaged in the business
of agricultural credit.
ORGANISATION:
The organisation of the Department is spread over the following
Divisions: -
1)
Division-I. (Agri. Financing & Target Monitoring,
Enforcement and Administration Division)
2)
Division-II
(Credit Planning, Development, Internal Audit & Research
Division).
3)
Division-III (ACAC Secretariat, Business Plan & ADB Focal
Point Division).
