Dear Sir,

AGRICULTURAL LOAN SCHEME-LIST OF ELIGIBLE ITEMS
FOR AGRICULTURAL CREDIT
            

Please refer to our Circular Letter No./1044-1050/PD(P)-08/2001 dated 26th April, 2001 on the captioned subject. 

In order to further enhance the scope of Agricultural Loans Scheme and to ensure availability of adequate & timely credit to the growers / farmers, the Agricultural Credit Advisory Committee (ACAC), in it’s meeting held on 17th July 2002 at SBP, Karachi, has taken the following decisions with immediate effect: - 

i)                  Finances made by the banks to the Leasing Companies for providing agricultural equipments / machines on leasing / rental / hiring basis to the growers / farmers shall be treated as part of banks’ mandatory targets for agriculture. 

ii)                Banks are allowed to provide finances for processing of high quality seeds to the Seed Processing Units. Such financing shall also be treated as part of banks’ mandatory targets for agriculture.  

You are, therefore, advised to provide finances for the above purpose. All such financing to the Leasing Companies as well as to the Seed Processing Units should be reported by your bank on proforma “L” & “Q” respectively on monthly basis. The first information for the month of August 2002 may be sent to us on or before 15th September 2002 and so on.
