HYDERABAD STATE NOTES    

Hyderabad State was the largest Indian Princely and was ruled by a hereditary Nizam. It was founded in 1724 by Chinkilij Khan Nizam-ul-mulk Asaf Jah until 1948 by Asaf Jah VII. It was the only Princely State to have issued a Paper currency on a regular and legitimized basis from 1917 to 1952 under the Hyderabad Currency Act (II if 1327 F). The Osmania Sicca Rupee Notes were first issued in 1918. Later Notes were printed at the Currency Note Press at Nasik. Notes were issued in denominations of Rupee 1, 5, 10, 100 and 1000 and were convertible to Indian Rupees which circulated freely in Hyderabad. These Notes were dated in the �Fasli� era,

which was prevalent in the Deccan since the Mughal times. The Hyderabad States was assimilated into the Union of India in 1950 and the Osmania Sicca Rupee Notes were demonetized effective from 1st April 1959.

1 RUPEE NOTE

1 Rupee notes of Hyderabad State were issued in 1939. It was 100mm x 68mm in size and printed by Hyderabad Prison Print. On the front of the note the coats-of-arms of Hyderabad and on the back a 1 Rupee coin of Hyderabad illustrated.

On the front the words "THE GOVERNMENT OF HIS EXALTED HIGHNESS THE NIZAM OF HYDERABAD" appears in micro lettering. "EXALTED HIGHNESS" is a rare hybrid of the style Highness, which was used as the style of the Nizams of Hyderabad & Berar.

   
   

1000 RUPEES NOTE

It was the highest denominated note of Hyderabad State. It was 221mm x 164mm in size and printed by Waterlow & Sons, Limited, London.

On the top corners of the front side of the note the royal arms of Fateh Jang Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Siddiqi, Asaf Jah VII dynasty and at the bottom the issue date illustrated. This date was occur in the �Fasli era, which was prevalent in Deccan since the Mughal times.
